Old Tradition

No Shortcuts

Just Freedom

Our flagship whiskeys are a new riff on an old tradition. Independently owned and operated bourbon distillery in Kentucky allows us the freedom to make a never before seen declaration for quality in every bottle of whiskey.

Nothing to hide, everything to show.

New Riff Distilling’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a genuine high-rye mashbill of 65% corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. It’s made with the full sour mash Kentucky Regimen and aged four years in 53-gallon toasted and charred new oak barrels. Bottled-in-Bond without chill filtration!

Let’s jump in and find out what all this does to the nose, palate and finish.

The Review

The Sniff

It has wonderful hints of vanilla, honey, oak, caramel and a touch of chipotle hiding in the back.

The Sip

The sip backs up the sniff. Honey, vanilla, caramel and oak with some heat coming in from that chipotle I found hiding in the back.

The Finale

The finish is just the right blend of cayenne, chipotle and hints of black pepper. Very nice.

The Wrap-up

This bottle can hold its own neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail. I’d like to see it priced around $70 here in Ontario ($30 cheaper than list). This would make it a buy all day for me. That said, it has lots of character and flavour, which is all I need at the end of a long day in my whiskey glass.
